Based in Nablus, the Union of Charitable Societies was established on May 15, 1958 and was registered with the Jordanian Ministry of Social Affairs under No. 217. After the advent of the PNA, the Union renewed its registration in accordance with Palestinian Non-Government Organizations Law # 33 of 1966. It was officially registered on May 26, 1997 under No. 52. On May 3, 2005, the Union's legal status was changed in accordance with Non-Government Organizations and Charitable Societies Law. Its registration number is NA- 766- C.
